Location

Naval Construction Battalion Center (NCBC) Gulfport is located in Harrison County in Gulfport, Mississippi, on the Gulf of Mexico. The area is pro-military and heavily populated with active duty Navy and Air Force personnel and Reservists and retirees. Gulfport is a medium-income community. In comparison with some duty stations, it will be much less expensive to live. Gulfport, along with Biloxi, Ocean Springs, Long Beach, Pass Christian, and Bay St. Louis are cities that line the beachfront of Mississippi. New Orleans, Louisiana, is only 90 miles west.

Relocation Assistance

The Fleet & Family Support Center can help you prepare for your PCS move stateside or overseas, retiring, or separating from active duty. The Center offers various services that can help you manage the financial aspects of your move, help you get settled in your new community, and provide extensive information about the Mississippi Gulf Coast area. FFSC and Medical Services also offer information and assist families with special needs members.

Lending Locker items are available to active duty service members on PCS orders. Families may use these items while waiting for their household goods to arrive or after shipping their household goods.

Temporary Quarters

Navy Gateway Inns & Suites (NGIS) is considered priority-one lodging for all Navy TDY travelers and has 215 rooms available for personnel. You can make reservations at any time before arrival by calling 228-871-2505 or at www.dodlodging.net. 

The Navy Lodge, an 80 unit facility, is located on 1st Street. It includes free local telephone calls, high chairs, cribs, coffee, ice, daily newspapers, roll-away beds, furnished kitchenettes, and cable TV—call 228-864-3101 for additional information or reservations. 

It is within walking distance of the NEX, beauty and barber shops, MWR Youth Center, bank, and the Child Development Center. All accommodations are air-conditioned with private baths and family accommodations. The facility is all nonsmoking.

There are also numerous hotels and motels are located within 3 miles of the base. The Combined Bachelor Housing office can supply a list of those closest to NCBC.

Directions

Take Interstate 10, Exit 34A to Highway 49 south until the Naval Construction Battalion Center road sign is visible. Take a right on Pass Road; this will lead you into Gate 2.

From Regional Airports: The closest commercial airport is the Gulfport- Biloxi International Airport. Taxi service is available to/from NCBC Gulfport and will cost approximately $15-$20. If acquiring a rental car, take Highway 49 south and follow the above directions.
